My Dearest DC Friends,
I will be leaving early tomorrow morning with Mamma, Carl, Carl's Mamma, Laki, and Laki's Mamma for Romania. We will not be there until July however; as a wedding gift to Carl and me, Mamma, Papa, and Uncle Nicu are giving us a tour of Europe on the way to Romania. They have never seen Europe, and we will stop first in Dublin, then on to London, then on and on until July 1, when we arrive to Romania. I am so very excited I shall never sleep!
Carl and I have everything for a home, and we have our home here and one in Brasov, so when I was asked what I wanted as a wedding gift, I suggested this. I have saved very much money, and I offered to help to pay, but Mamma, Papa, and Uncle Nicu said no. They are very happy to do this! I sometimes think I will burst from being so very grateful and happy!
I am very sorry I have not been here to visit you in some time. After DA left, I was all alone and I didn't like it. This home, these walls yearn for love and laughter, so Laki and her Mamma, Mamma Belle (Isabelle), moved in from their old house. I've rented it to them for $300 per month, and from the trust I have from DA, they will have an additional $300 per month for to help with the household expenses of the bills. Uncle Nicu was going to give us money as wedding gift, but Carl and I asked him for a car for Laki and Mamma Belle instead. They have a very nice almost new Subaru Outback and so we are relieved that they are in a nice home in a safe community. Their old house was in need of so much repairs and they had a drunken landlord, and they were paying $600 for that. Uck! Mamma Belle is on the disability payments and this will help them to save money. Our HOA very graciously allowed me to list our home with the government housing so they will pay the rent as they did the old house.
So, they moved in, we had to study like madmen for to pass our finals, and we did very well! Mamma returned from taking DA home and after school was ended, she and I alone took "mother-daughter" trips away. We went to the beach in Wilmington, NC twice, to Gatlinburg, TN, and to Maggie Valley and Cherokee, NC, to have fun at the casino. We both won money! It was not very much, but we gambled $20 each and made $160. Ha!
I see Mamma very differently now. She will always be my Mamma, and now more than ever she is my best friend. We had many very nice talks, and I am looking to my marriage with confidence. I have also spent much time with my Carl, and planning our wedding. I have been so very busy, and I am sorry I have not been here.
Catina II is ready ahead of her schedule! We are very excited! She has made several trips about the harbor and she is everything my Papa wanted and more! I am so very happy. Carl and I will be married at 11:00am Romanian time (6:00pm EST here) on Friday, July 4. I chose this date for I am an American, and this is my new country's birthday. Carl and everyone agreed that it was very good.
It is possible Carl and I may stay for a year in Romania for to learn of the businesses. He is learning Romanian very well! We are still discussing of this. But we will finish our educations, certainly! Our parents would kill us if we did not, yes? There are so many things of my life he must know.
Our friend and neighbor, the Crazy Cat Lady, has agreed to join here for to tell me of your news, and for to tell you of my news. I will call her, Gwen, and Laki once per week, I promise! She's so very nice! She is a manager of Walmart and she has very many funny stories of it! Her husband was very ill and I told her she could come here to see new ideas of food and I know all of you will be very nice to her. She has 5 cats! And one dog.
I will be taking Azia with me tomorrow. If we stay, I will also have my cats shipped to me. Gwen will take care of Misty and Kali while all of us are away.
I'm so sorry this is such a long post. I will miss you all! Thank you so very much for being so very kind to me. I have all the recipes you gave me for Catina II, and they are going to make our crew's stomachs very happy! Thank you all so very much for everything; I swear I shall never, ever forget any of you!
