Today is 'Bhut Chaturdashi', Hindu version of Halloween

Today is 'Bhut Chaturdashi', it is considered that spirits or 'Bhut' come out today and they can make contact with mortal world.

We decorate our home with lamps, candels because according to Hindu mythology spirits are afraid of fire.

Happy Bhut Chaturdashi. Do children go door to door for candy as they do here for Halloween?

Yes they go, but not for candy but for 'laddus' & 'pedas'. Both are sweet.

These are laddus

and these are pedas

What are laddus and pedas made from? The pedas almost look like marzipan.

heheheh I`ve had them before and other sweets, trust me, unless you have a sweet tooth, you don`t eat many in one sitting :)

Sugar and Milk powder feature quite a bit also (not for the Diet Conscious).
