if that were so, most knights would have died on the field, exhausted and outmaneuvered by faster opponents. Authentic battle swords of the era usually weighed less than four pounds and could be handled quite deftly. Heavy swords we see displayed in museums are usually "parade" blades, meant for show only.
 
WOW, hard one today. I got 2, 3, 7 and 8. Broadswords were lighter but the Scottish claymores were big heavy things. Can't remember off the top of my head how much they weighed, but they were definitely a two handed job.
