TRUTH !!
The most common French surname is Martin. This name is derived from the
first name Martinus, which is Latin.
Martinus refers to the Roman God of Fertility and War, who was named Mars.

There was a popular 4th-century saint named Martin of Tours, who was very
popular with people who lived in Europe during the Middle ages. It is
possible that the surname Martin was adopted by people who were followers of
this saint.

LOL!!! True...I read their journey actually started in Pittsburgh, PA, but only if you are talking about the very beginning. Funding and discussion. They wandered all over the valley I live in.:)

I didn't get much of that right. But, you reminded me of Saint Martin of Tours, called Sankt Morten in Danish. For some reason, they celebrate the anniversary of him becoming a bishop back in the 4th century C.E. Apparently he didn't want to be bishop, so he hid, but a flock of geese gave away his hiding place. The Danish Club is gonna have a party/formal dinner on the 13th of November and the tradition of serving goose will be upheld. I can hardly wait.

..........never had goose......... what am i missing ..............

All dark meat :)

Twenty years ago, you would also be missing the ~ 1 litre of beautiful, pure white, goose fat that is exquisite for baking. But, now they are "healthier" and don't have nearly as much fat. I don't buy them myself any more. My DH only likes the white meat on poultry.
