The voice of Big Bird belongs to Caroll Spinney, who also wears the big yellow costume with no eyeholes (but does have a tv monitor inside so he can see where he's going).
Spinney also does the voice of Oscar the Grouch, and, in 2003, published The Wisdom of Big Bird (and the Dark Genius of Oscar the Grouch): Lessons from a Life in Feathers.
