As 15-year-olds at Lakeside Prep in Seattle, Gates and Allen desperately wanted to get onto good computers, which were only available to Universities and Businesses at the time. By cobbling together a legitimate business that analyzed traffic data, the U. of Washington let the young entrepreneurs onto their computers. In 1970, the business not only got them free quality computer time, but netted them $20,000 and paved the way to their eventual success- and a combined net worth of over $60 billion.
