TRUTH !!
In 1943, while serving as a Lieutenant, (J.G.) Hubbard ordered his men to fire four 3-inch caliber rounds at a floating pyramid target, unaware of the land mass behind it. Fortunately for him, the Coronados Islands were not inhabited, and there were no casualties. Nevertheless, The commanding Admiral wrote in Hubbard's fitness report that he was "lacking in the essential qualities of judgment, leadership, and cooperation" and so relieved him of duties.
