These are signs of aggression in all monkeys, along with teeth-baring, which is sometimes mis-construed by humans as a friendly grin.

i missed #'S 1, 5, and 8 today.

i saw a show on pbs not too long ago about facial expressions, and the muscles that are used for smiling in monkeys and humans are the same ones used for fear, anger, and excitement.

they did a study showing people greeting each other with smiles, then their faces (of both terror and excitement) while riding a rollercoaster and watching funny and scary movies. it was interesting to see how similar they all were.

as far as the monkeys goes; i guess they put a monkey on a roller coaster and it bit the guy next to him, hence anger.
