According to Shirley's autobiography, 12- year-old Kathleen Robinson had been mute since birth when she went to the theater to se "Bright Eyes" (1934).
The movie was so stimulating to her that Robinson was suddenly able to use her voice.
Released during Christmas week, the film features an orphaned Shirley singing, "On the Good Ship Lollypop"
