you may not feel or hear them, but earthquakes are taking place all over the world at this
very minute. most of these temblors register only 1-2 on the richter scale. on average
every year, the USGS reports 18 major earthquakes measuring between 7.0 and 7.9 and
one extremely large quake measuring 8.0 or larger.
