TRUTH !!
Carole Lombard spent much of her time attending "War Bond" rallies, urging people to buy bonds to support the war. Lombard once sold over $2 million in war-bonds in ONE day. It was while flying to one of these events that she and her mother were killed when the DC3 in which they were passengers crashed into a Nevada mountain.
At the time of her death, Lombard was the highest paid female star. She was earning $500,000 a year.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt declared her the "first woman killed in the line of duty" during the war and posthumously awarded her the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Following her death, her husband, Clark Gable, joined the Army Air Corps. A liberty ship was named after her during World War II.
