When we lived on the farm, we had some wild turkeys on the property. They would get into the big garden and ruin a lot of the plants. So one year my father headed out to the field and shot a couple. Ripped out the feathers, chopped off the head, and anything else needed to get it ready for the freezer. That turkey was tough. And it was what turned me against all white meat on any fowl. The second one was made into a very large pot of turkey soup. That was edible after hours of cooking. What was leftover, went into Mason jars and a couple of jars would come out every so often for supper.
