Have any of you had really bad experiences doing volunteer work? I've had so many that I think I've decided to not work for any organized volunteer organization. If anyone responds to this, I'll tell you about my experiences, and today tops the list!

I haven't but my best friend does alot of volunteering and she has told me some unbelieveable stuff that she has seen, experienced, etc.

I haven't had any really bad experiences doing volunteer work. I have had a little problem with some of the other volunteers thinking that they can just lay back and do a little here and there, since they aren't being paid for it. Or they think they are entitled to take certain liberties since they are volunteering. What a lot of people don't realize is that when you volunteer, you are every bit as obligated, as people depend on you.

I do a fair amount of volunteering but it has mostly been in Christian organisations so less likely to have issues. I currently volunteer as a teacher.
