i'm old school, still read and subscribe to newspapers. a lot of the breaking news i've already seen on cnn or the internet, but still. the sunday paper can hold my interest for a good hour or more, even though much of the news can be unpleasant and despairing. sundays are good for taking a spin. we have incredibly beautiful countryside and mountain vistas surrounding where i live. traffic is light on sundays, especially on the country roads. i like to drive, music playing semi-loud, my eyes and mind open to the sights and sounds streaming past as the road takes us away. sunday meals are as special as i can make them. we never eat out, and i use this to justify the lamb chops, the smoked fish, the ny strip steaks i bring home for our sunday table...:)what are some of your sunday pleasures?

Watch football. Otherwise Sunday is pretty much like any other day.

Read. Drink wine. Cook. Horse around here. I do usually like to watch "Religion and Ethics" on TV because I like the balance it gives, even though I'm not religious myself it gives some good insight into many of our world's problems. Maybe an old movie. Sometimes I call my family and catch up.

When I entertain, I often do it on Sundays, early-ish. Lunch or Brunch or an early dinner so everyone can go home, put up their feet, and burp while waiting for the new week to attack them.

Read the Sunday paper with a cup of coffee. I never drink coffee other than on Sundays, get too wired! Make bacon and eggs with toast, I don't eat breakfast other than Sundays. Watch CBS Sunday Morning, then have the Food Channel on while I do laundry. Figure out something for dinner. Yardwork if it's nice out.

Weekends...Sundays...are not much different than the rest of the week when you're retired. I'm discovering that.

However, I always like to begin the day with a nice, extra-special breakfast that we can eat at leisure. Saturday night Greta*, our housemaid, sets the table for breakfast and puts everything out for whatever I plan to prepare for breakfast. That way, when I get up, all I have to do is turn the coffeemaker on and whip up breakfast.

The rest of the day I usually enjoy dabbling around with whatever I'm knitting/crocheting/sewing or reading my current book, or messing with a fun thing in the kitchen. When the weather is nice, Glenn and I hop on the Harley and ride...wherever.

Today, for example, I just finished a heavenly-smelling pot of fresh tomato sauce. Just an excuse to use up 5 pounds of tomatoes on the counter. I have a super knitting project I'm working on for Christmas and have made it to the halfway point, so I'll dive into that and listen to an audio book as I do so. Then, a little later I'll head to the pool and spend the rest of the afternoon there.

Glenn likes to tinker and has been plagued with a wiring problem with the starter on the motorcycle, so I can hear him vroom, vroom, vrooming out in the garage. He'll find the problem and have it whipped before I hit the pool. He'll probably join me then and we'll slide through the afternoon in the sun and water.

Most of our Sundays are pretty laid back and lazy, which is decadently delicious.

*Greta is our fictional housemaid that magically, and invisibly, appears sometime Saturday night to get things ready for our Sunday morning breakfast/brunch.

Sunday is definitely usually a lazy day for us. First we go to church. Sometimes we go out for lunch after church, sometimes we eat at home. We piddle around a little on the computer (DC, Facebook, etc.). Then we usually take a nap. In the evening we have supper and watch TV. Occasionally we will take a drive after lunch, if we have enough money for gas.

Church, breakfast, playing on computer, later...Pharmacy & Grocery, the movies, computer/TV, relaxing, then to bed. We tend to forage for leftovers, etc throughout the day as we feel the need.

If I have time after cleaning the weekends mess I like going for a walk with the kids and maybe have a glass of cider and read a bit or I pick veggies in the garden and make a preserve or two.

I don't remember what its like to have Sundays off. I don't think I've had a Sunday off in 25 years, unless Xmas or New Year's fell on a Sunday.
All my cycling buddies do day long rides on Sundays. All I do is read their ride reports on a cycling forum the next day. Yeah, it's like a cooking thread....lol...

For 11.5 years, my Sundays were on Thursdays...same thing happened on Thursdays with the exception of church.

i've been waiting for somebody to say, "motocross", or "kegger cookout", or "going to the racetrack", or "heading for the beach (in my piece of crap airless escort)"--are none of these 20th century fun activities popular any more?

Sunday's are Ma's day here. I so look forward to all my kiddies coming here to swim, eat. water slide and eat and eat and play. This keeps me going and happy. I love these kids so and having them come spend the day is my thing. I love to cook and make them treats is my idea of a good fun filled day. Time to get going. Have a great day everyone.
kades:)

Shrek and I are homebodies. I do go out and climb rocks, bike rides, nature walks, on a daily basis. I like to spend one whole day with Shrek and Sunday is the day by default.

Sunday's start out with church then home for breakfast. My kids like the usual bacon & eggs, waffles, sometimes pancakes, OJ and coffee.

The rest of the day is usually whatever comes up and of course, during the school year, homework is on Sunday's.

When I was growing up Sunday was a home/family day. In our area we had Blue Laws that required almost all business be closed so it was easy to get into the home based routine. I used to think it was boring and now I enjoy it. I do not work so I tend to stay "out of the way" on the weekends and venture out during the week. So on Sunday it is the Flea market at sun up, a real newspaper, and a late cooked breakfast followed by a big traditional dinner. Comfortable!

retired, only thing different is a thicker newspaper. coffee and read for an hour or so. then whatever project i am working on. currently the princess dress for my great granddaughter. i putter about straighting up the house. have a late, easy dinner, tonight a cheeseburger and chips. then i read and read my current book, til lights out. not very interesting is it?

Sounds perfect to me! I stopped racing the rats years ago and I don't miss it at all.
