We have a thread for hated foods. I thought it would be appropriate to have the opposite. The problem is that the list of loved foods will be much longer than the list of hated foods. With that in mind, I would suggest that we place our preferences in categories, if that's ok. Here's an atempt:

Favorite red meat

Favorite white meat

Favorite fowl

Favorite fish

Favorite game

Favorite sausage (including bologna and hot dogs)

Favorite cold cuts

Favorite apple

Favorite citrus fruit

Favorite berry

Favorite pitted fruit (includes cherries, and avocados)

Other favorite fruits

Favorite legumes

Favorite leafy veggie

Favorite root veggie

Favorite cruciferous veggie (cabbage, cauliflower, brocoli, etc)

Favorite grains

There. That should give us something to chew on for a while (pun intended)

If you have a descriptive way of telling us why you love a particular food, or example of a situation that made that food your favorite, please share. i'll share some of my favorites later. I have some work to do right now.

I agree that we have to add cheese and dairy.

Favorite Cheese - 5 to 7 year aged cheddar

Favorite dairy other than cheese - milk

I don't know what food category chocolate would fall into, so like cheese, we could give it its own category.

Favorite Chocolate - 75% cacao Lindt

And if anyone thinks of another food group that just has to be in there, add it.

Hot dogs - my dad and I would sit watching something on TV and he would get me a cold hot dog for a snack. I'd peel the "skin" from the hot dog with my teeth until just the inner meat remained. I loved both parts. But I liked eating my hot dogs that way as a kid. A fond memory of sharing time with my dad.

I'm going to go off script a bit. I don't eat cold cuts and I can't really say which type of this-or-that I like best. For example, while I will eat most any fruit, I'm not really passionate about most. And there are no categories for some of my favorite foods.

So, in the interest of brevity, here is a short list of foods I could eat once a week and not grow tired of:

Thai Curry
Cuban Black Beans & Rice
Roast Leg of Lamb
Spinach (in any form)
Chili
Cornish Pasties
Sushi
Most any fish, as long as it's fresh
Homemade Banana Cream Pie
Raw oysters on the half shell
Fresh squeaky cheese curds (not deep fried)
Most any cheese, as long as it's real
My grandmother's Sauerbraten

That's all I can think of for now. :)
