After having a party on Saturday, on Sunday I just sat in front of a book with glasses of wine and a dazed look on my face ... after, I might add, doing 3 or 4 sinks full of dishes. I love entertaining, but absolutely must have a day or two of peace afterwards.

Claire, I'd never thought about it like that, but it seems I always have to allow myself a couple of days of downtime after entertaining. I don't really want to go anywhere or see anyone during that time. Almost like returning to the nest!!!

Oh, I definitely need the down time. I love to entertain, and do it in varying degrees often (two big parties --- about 25-40 people -- twice a year, but small dinner, barbecues or brunches every other month or so). I don't have a dishwasher and am an insomniac. So I often do a sink or two of dishes at, say, 3 a.m. SO I'm really brain and body dead for a couple of days.
