OK, I'm making a couple CD's for my parent's to take out on the boat with them this summer. They are asking for 60's, 70's maybe early 80's, Broadway, Movies, ect. upbeat songs. Here's what I have so far. Any suggestions?

Danger Zone (Kenny Loggins)
I'm Walkin 2002 Digital Remaster (Fats Donino Jukebox)
Your the one that I want (Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta)
ABC Jackson 5
Get Rhythm (Johnny Cash)
Luck be a lady (Frank Sinatra)
Footloose (Kenny Loggins)
Conga (Gloria Estefan)
Chantilly Lace (Jerry Lee Lewis)
Not Fade Away (Buddy Holly)
Smokin in the Boy's Room
Midnight Train to Georgia

Georgia...Ray Charles
Pretty Woman....Roy Orbison
Blue Bayou...Linda Rhonstadt version
Lady....Kenny Rogers
We've Only Just Begun....The Carpenters

Copa Cabana!!!! Barry Manilow
The Pina Colada song - Rupert Holmes

Walk like a Man
something by the Beatles if they were that way inclined
There's no Elvis on the list!
Whip It - Devo
Early Police
some Beach boys

This is a funny coincidence, sorta - at our dinner party last weekend, DH's friend got into a friendly competition with some others to guess who was singing what on the iPod we had connected to the computer speakers. DH's friend also likes to quiz people on what album the song appeared on. DH has a *ton* of CDs, mostly Greatest Hits of ... or Best of ... whoever. So that's always his answer  "What album was that on?" "The Eagles' Greatest Hits!"

Here's the greatest hits of the '70s: The Top 100 Seventies Singles

One that *must* be on the list, though, is "Joy To The World" by Three Dog Night

I recommend "Come Go With Me" by the Del-Vikings. It was from the late 50's but a great traveling song.

I find it was was covered by the Beach Boys as well. I prefer the original.
Tell your folks everyone here at DC wishes them a safe and wonderful time!!

Man, I'm having a huge nostalgia trip right now. Being reminded of all these great songs is making we NEED to listen to 60s music All Night Long.

Wow, thanks for all your suggestions. I am going to have to burn several cd's for them, but they are at the lake a lot and I know they'll need more than one. I've added a few from each of your reccomendations.

SixSix, I like the Jivebunny, however they were not available for mp3 download. I'll have to look a little further. Great idea.

Hoot, my parents will appreciate the well wishes, thank you

Any original Temptations -- My Girl, Aint too Proud to Beg, Its Growing, The Way You Do the Things You Do, Im Losing You, etc...
Smokey and the Miracles: Tracks of my Tears, Choosy Beggar, Going to a Go Go.. Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Marvelettes, Martha and the Vandellas, Aretha Franklin.... that sort of thing is what I would want. :)

Hey, abj, take jabbur's list above, add pretty much ANY Neil Diamond song, and any John Denver song and send that one to ME! :)

I love your taste, jabbur!

Me, too! Jabbur - you rock! :punk:If we ever have a DC convention, I nominate jabbur for DJ.
(If we could add some Jimi Hendrix, Led Zepplin, Crosby Stills & Nash, and Doors - it would be perfect for me!)

Hm. I'm thinking, where's Journey, Styx, Fleetwood Mac, the Eagles?

Journey: Lights, Don't Stop Believing, Wheel In The Sky
Styx: Come Sail Away, Lady, Grand Illusion
Fleetwood Mac: The Chain, Little Lies, Gold Dust Woman
Eagles: Hotel California, Take it Easy, Desperado, Life in the Fast Lane, Tequila Sunrise, Peaceful Easy Feeling, Witchy Woman (might as well just get 'em all ;) )
