If I ever wake up that early it's because 1. I'm sick or 2. Paul can't sleep and is keeping me awake or 3. I've have a big problem of some sort and I can't quit thinking about it. Bucky your day at the lake sounds beautiful and I would love to feel like that some day...but I know for sure that if it ever happens it'll be at 3 in the afternoon NOT in the morning.

I think the only time I've ever gotten up that early and stayed up was during my trip to the Philippines (major jetlag). I got to see the sun rise over the mountains along side the roosters.

I have never had problems sleeping, thank goodness. If I wake up for any reason, I go right back to sleep!!
If I hear a storm, I will either go right back to sleep or grab my camera if there is good lightening :o)

DH on the other hand, wakes up 3-4 times a night.

hey, isn't that buckytom in the second photo?

If I had someone in my family who loved to get up extra early I'd be everywhere before the sun! Unfortunately, if there are no plans, a typical Saturday consists of the three "boys" getting up in the 10:00 hour. My favorite time is in the summer, waking about an hour before sun up, making a cup of coffee and sitting outside on the swing. I love to watch the birds waking up. Usually the hummingbirds are the first ones looking for breakfast, followed by the barage of all the other birds.

Once it's light enough, I like to stay outside and read. I particularly like to read my favorite cookbooks, which are those published in the 20's-40's. Very interesting reading.

When I was in college, the fire alarm was literally right outside my door. We had a fire drill, and I slept right through it!

The only reason I wake up that early is when I am on a fire assignment. In fire camp we start work at 6 am. Usually, we work for a couple of hours and then go have breakfast. But when I do get up that early the first thing I do is have a huge cup of coffee or maybe two. If I really need a boost I dump a package of hot chocolate mix and a couple of packets of creamer in the coffee and make my own version of a fire camp mocha.
