Woo HOO!

BakeChef and Rick, I was driving when I heard the Supreme Court's decision on same-sex marriages. My response was "woo-HOO" and and I honked the horn. Okay, I was on my way to a farm in the backwoods, but I was so pleased by this decision. Especially since Sunday (tomorrow) is Gay Pride Day (at least it is here in Canada).

I'm happy for all those who choose to marry for love.

Divorce attorneys are especially happy too.

It just makes sense. It always broke my heart to see couples who've been together for so many years not being able to get the same benefits as straight couples.

I agree. My BIL and his partner have been together almost as long as DH and I have. Can you imagine being kept from your life partner's hospital room? I was thrilled at this decision. Equal treatment under the law, as the Constitution requires.

The best part is that when the time comes, the other family cannot stop the remaining mate from making the funeral arrangements or have any final say. The remaining mate has all the rights the same as a heterosexual couple. Even the right to inherit. They all have the protection of the Supreme Court.

I've been around long enough to witness a lot of significant change. This is right up there as one of the best things to change. Everyone is entitled to happiness.

I have to say, I think the best part of marriage is the decades (hopefully) of building a life together as a couple.
