When I first broke my hip, as soon as the cut healed, I started water exercises. I live in a small town (3500), so we are one-deep with everything. If my town has a water class a half mile from my house, it is fairly certain yours does as well (it meets at a hotel's inside pool). Next month I plan on moving from pool workouts to Zumba (I love to dance, my husband hates to!) right after my (58th) birthday. But the water classes were a lifesaver. I was the baby of the class -- all of the other women were about 70! Made me feel young. But it took the weight off the leg and kept me moving. my goal right now is to NOT re-gain the 30 lbs I lost due to stress. I've always had very muscular legs, and my calves have recovered, but my thighs still are -- well, flabby, although thin, flabby. I'm just getting so that I'm comfortable walking down stairs (upstairs is easier), and won't even try down hill (did a couple of weeks ago and regretted the effort).

It looks like we are going to join the YMCA...it's about 2 blocks away. I've used the outside track and they have an inside track. I need to get Shrek moving. I need to get moving, with everything on the computers at work now...I'm rarely out of the office.
