Sounds like northern Minnesota to me. I lived there (and loved it) for a while and still have family there.

Amber, my grandpa grew up in Gardner, and he used to tell a story about how he and his brother got in a lot of trouble. Their bedroom was upstairs, and had a big dormer window. It had snowed so much that it was up to that second floor window. Then the sun came out, and he and his brother couldn't resist slipping out the window and using that expanse of sparkling white for a slide.
Their father had dug a tunnel out to the barn so he could feed the animals, and unfortunately, the boys fell through the snow above it and he had to shovel them out.
He tanned their hides soundly, then made them help re-dig the tunnel.

Jan, I come from a long line of story-tellers, on both sides.

You probably don't want to hear about the time Grandpa and his brother operated on the cat.

See, now down here in southeastern Michigan we fill the potholes with small cars. (That is NOT a joke! We really do!)

Scary part, they are all true. I especially like installing the security devices and leaving the house and garage unlocked.

My dad is like this, and I have to sneak out in the middle of the night to lock the doors. LoL I ask him why he doesn't like to lock the doors and he tells me 'You don't need to'. Hey, I had an apartment where someone tried to break in. I am GLAD the doors and windows were locked!!!! I'm GLAD I made it difficult for someone to get in. I was laid up in bed after an accident, I was easy prey!!! LoL

Idiot cops, with the golly gee attitude, they didn't even do fingerprints. They could see that someone had pulled the screens off the window.

Hmmmm, guess I'm still irritated about that situation. Sorry.
