I'm sure there are other, better ways, but the only way I know is to minimize the homepage of DC. See the little DC in the address bar? Put your cursor over that and it will turn into a hand. Left click and drag what's in the hand to your desktop. Then "drop" it there. I don't know if this is just a Fire Fox thing or not - sorry.

You can also right click in a blank space on your desktop. Click on New and then click on Shortcut. Type in www.discusscooking.com - then when it says New Internet Shortcut, remove that and type in Discuss Cooking.

Hope that helps.

Save/organize recipes the easy way

The best way I've found to save, organize, search and recall select recipes is to copy/paste them into a PIM (Personal Information Manager). Two free-to-use PIMs I like: TreePad Lite and KeyNote. Both are similar to Windows Explorer in presentation, a hierarchal tree on one side and details/notes... on the other. You can easily search your entire recipe collection for particular ingredients, methods, etc.

Thanks, kitchenelf, for starting this thread. There is good information here. I really appreciate the help.
Most of all, however, I want to thank you and Alix for helping me when I had a login problem. A few months ago, I had to clear my cookies because of a browser problem and after that I could not log into DC anymore. You and Alix were kind enough to give me suggestions and support. Today, I, again, tried to login and guess what? It worked!!! I'm back!!
You should both be given an A+ for being so kind and helpful. Have a Woderful Thanksgiving Day!!!

Well, I know the instructions are here but I just can't find it.
How do I use the "Quote message in reply"
Mine does nothing when I click the box
Is it because it is disabled since I am a new member?
I would like to respond to someone when their post is 2 or 3 up the list.
Thanks for the thread. It is very helpful.

If you are trying to do what I just did with your post all you have to do is click on the Quote button right beside the Edit button in the lower right corner of the post you want to quote. Did that explain it?

There is a QUOTE button at the lower right corner of each post. Click on that and you will get a reply window with the post quoted in it.
