peel 4 large bosc pears,cut in half the long way.In a skillet large enough to hold the pears,in single layer simmer 1/4 cup sugar,in 1/2 cup water,bringing to a simmer over med. heat dissolve the sugar then add the pears,cover the skillet and cook til pears are almost tender. use a slotted spoon and transfer the pears to a warm plate.Add 1/2 cup sweet marsala to the skillet bring to simmer,cook til syrup of marsala is slightly thick about 5 min. Stir in 1/4 cup heavy cream cook 2-3 min more return pears to skillet and spoon sauce over them. Then place the pears on a serving platter and spoon the sauce over then.Bring to room temp before serving. Place mint sprig on top for garnish.
