Always use recipes?

I always have a recipe, and I never follow it... Does that make sense?

Humm ... if someone wants to know how to cook something - what method would you use to communicate that information in the most efficient manner other than as a recipe?

I wasn`t trying to be negative with my question ya know. I just made this topic cause I noticed almost every thread was just about recipes, not simply conversing about food and techniques like this thread (and more Ill make in the future). I wasnt saying ``you guys shouldnt just be writing down recipes try to find another way to do share your ideas``, cause on the internet you obviously cant use the better method of demoing it in front of the person. My point was I dont use or keep many recipes but the ones that are in my books, just wanted to see how you guys cooked cause I know theres a lot of housewife recipes out there and sometimes the people using them dont trust to play around with anything.
