Nerd or Geek?

While recently reading a photography blog, a distinction between the terms "nerd" and "geek" came up. It seems a "nerd" is a guy who knows all about it—and likes to talk about it and argue about it — and a "geek" is a guy who likes to do it, whatever "it" is.

I suppose the term "foodie" could also be applied.

Would you consider yourself a "Foodie Nerd", or a "Foodie Geek?"
... or perhaps neither...

For myself, I do more reading than sticking new things in the oven, although I do that too... but just not as often as I would like... diet considerations be darned!!! ...so I guess I'm more nerd than geek.

Oh definitely a geek. That's why I post pics, along with a couple others here. All the rest are just talkin' the talk

Assuming that quote is correct, I'd be a geek too. The minute someone gets too wordy and over the top impressed with their own knowledge, I get bored.

What if you're both? Are you a gerd or a neek? Because I think we all talk about it more than we do it.

Definitely a Geek...I cook way more than I talk...or at least I eat more than I talk.

lol, I eat more than I talk, too, PF.

Andy, I think this is the pic you're looking for, from Taxi Driver. He could have said it in Raging Bull too, though. I've only seen that movie once

You're probably right. I'm not a movie buff. But I see you got the point, however poorly made.
