These roll-ups have a crispy crust with a creamy center. You would never guess that you are eating bread. I have made the filling up at home to take camping with me. You will need to bring it to room temperature before using. I have made these in my Dutch oven and in a regular oven on a ungreased cookie sheet with low sides at 350 degrees for about 15 to 20 minutes when I need to make a lot of them or if I am in a hurry. I know you will enjoy these.
Enjoy! Debbie

1 package(s) (8 ounce) CREAM CHEESE; Softened.
1 EGG YOLK
1 1/4 cup(s) SUGAR; Divided.
SLICED BREAD
2 teaspoon(s) CINNAMON
1/2 cup(s) BUTTER; Melted.
1/4 teaspoon(s) VANILLA
_____
In a mixing bowl; combine the cream cheese, egg yolk, vanilla and 1/4 cup sugar; mix well and set aside.
Remove crust from bread.
Flatten bread slices with your hand on a sheet of wax paper.
Spread the cream cheese mixture over each slice of bread to within 1/2 inch of edges.
Roll up bread diagonally from point to point.
Add remaining 1 cup sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon to a shallow dish; mix well.
Dip the roll-ups in the melted butter, then in cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Place 3 roll-ups in a pie iron, tucking edges in if bread is a little long.
Cook over a hot fire until roll-ups are golden brown and sugar has caramelized, flipping pie iron over once.
Flip roll-ups onto a wire rack to cool for a few minutes before eating.
Yields about 10 to 15 depending how much filling you use for each slice of bread.

Ooooo. Do these look and sound good! I can almost taste the cream cheese oozing out when I take a bite. Don't have a pie iron - do you think I can bake it in the oven. TIA. Looks yummy. :)

Yes, you can bake them in a 350 degree oven for about 15 minutes. I forgot to add the amount of vanilla. I corrected it in the recipe. Enjoy! Debbie

Bet these would work on the grill over an open fire.
Perhaps with a generous lid over them to achive the 'baking' effect?
