Question Egg Wash For Pies

I have been researching freezing apple pies. I think I have all the rules down with understandinig. But one question still remains unanswered. I always put a whole egg wash on my pie crusts. Should I put the egg wash on the raw pie crust before freezing or just before I put it in the oven for baking?

I'd egg wash it just before putting it into the oven.

I'd wait until it's time to bake it.

Thank you for your input. Although I have been baking and cooking for more than 50 years, I still have room to learn more.

I brush my apple pies with milk and a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar before baking. No egg

I find that the egg wash makes the crust really shiny.
