At one time before Texas joined the Union or became a territory, it was an independent country by itself. Originally it belong to Mexico, they fought for their independence from them and became independent. Thus they are called the Lone Star State. The U.S had its stars on their flag, Texas had the one. They later became a territory of the U.S. and later statehood was granted.

Texans think all stars displayed singly are Texan, since they call themselves the Lone Star State. It's an affliction they have
