Hi everyone. I wonder if i can make pie crust pastry with oil instead butter ؟.

I have used this recipe when I did not have solid vegetable shortening.

For a two crust pie:

2 3/4 cups AP flour
1 t salt
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup milk

Mix together and shape into two balls, wrap in plastic wrap, chill 15 minutes or more in the refrigerator. Roll on a floured pastry cloth.

I prefer the solid shortening but, this works in a pinch.

I've made it and it's good in a pinch. The texture will be more like a shortbread cookie (crumbly) instead of flaky, but it is pretty good.
