Vodka Pie Crust

A friend was tell me about putting vodka in a pie crust to make a flaky crust. the vodka evaporates leaving a flaking crust.

Has anyone heard or done this. What were the results. He sent the link:

The pastry chef at my last restaurant swore by the vodka method of pie crusts. Don't know if he used CI's recipe or not, the only things I really know are he liked vodka in it, and he insisted on Crisco (not the palm oil based shortenings).

On this link, if you scroll down to Tanya's recipe, she gives exact details of how to make vodka pastry.
I havn't tried it yet. No Vodka in the house!!

This isn't breaking any rules is it?

sorry, same recipe but it does give some opinions of those who've used it.

We can overlook a rules violation if you run out immediately and buy some vodka.

Sorry, no can do we live 8 miles from the nearest shops and there'a a petrol ( gas?) strike on so shortage of petrol. We were going to take a drive to the beach but decided we'd better save on the petrol for the really necessary journeys ( like the Dentist next week )

Csalt, you're thinking backwards. If you have the vodka, you won't need the dentist. At least temporarily, til supplies run out
