CHOCOLATE CAKE

2 CUPS SUGAR
1 CUP CRISCO ---- CREAM TOGETHER
2 EGGS


2 CUPS FLOUR
3 TBSP COCOA
1/2 TSP SALT --- SIFT TOGETHER

ALTERNATE SUGAR MIXTURE WITH 1 CUP BUTTERMILK.
STIR 2 TSP SODA INTO 1 CUP BOILING WATER. ADD
TO MIXTURE. MIX. POUR INTO 9 X 13 PAN .BAKE AT
375 degrees FOR 30 MINUTES.

FROSTING

1 STICK OF BUTTER
3 TBSP COCOA --- STIR CONSTANTLY----
6 TBSP MILK --- BRING TO A BOIL

ADD 1 BOX SIFTED POWDERED SUGAR
1 1/2 CUP CHOPPED PECANS
 
Thank you so much for your cake and frosting recipe. I can't have chocolate but I think I will make it for the family. I am sure they will enjoy it.:rolleyes:
 
just want to verify the frosting - You cook the first part. I question it because I have a receipe very similiar that you don't bring it to a boil.

Have you tried the cake without the buttermilk and use regular milk instead, I always forget to pick up the butter milk and wonder if regular milk will do if you didn't have the buttermilk

Always like to try something new. Sound great. thanks

I bring the icing to a boil, then add the powdered sugar and nuts and remove it from the heat. This is a very moist cake, I always make it just like it says. It was my best friend Lisa's recipe, and she passed away from a brain tumor. I always think of her when I make it. She was a marvelous cook.
