Hello, I am an amateur cook who love making desserts. One day I was reading a french magazine for class and saw a chocolate cake that was very little, but had a liquid center. I was wondering if anyone else has ever seen such a thing or has a recipe for it because I'd like to cook it for my mothers birthday as she loves chocolate very much. Thank you very much.

Search for "Molten" or "lava" chocolate cakes.

I have never made them but have eaten them. There are many recipes available if you google. Just remember to make them small and don't over cook. The melted part in the middle is really undercooked batter.

I always thought that lava cakes had open tops like volcanos, that was my mistake.

My thanks to you two, merstar and FincaPerlitas, hopefully I can make good cakes for her birthday. It seems that there is a lot of room for creativity in the recipe. Thanks again!

Oh fantastic! I have been looking for a proper recipe for ages!
I remember my friends all used to put squares of choclate in the middle thinking it would melt perfectly. Funnily enough it never worked ;)
