How does the size of dish matter?

Hi,

I was just wondering how different will my cake be if I bake it in a 9 inch circular dish instead of an 8 inch one, which the recipe calls for?

It will cook faster, it will be flatter with less density.

It will be larger in diameter, and shorter in height. I like to use 9-inch diameter cake pans for 3 layer cakes. That way, it will still fit inside the cake carrier.

They're trying to tell you kindly that it's gonna look kinda like a pancake. 9 inches instead of 8 is a big difference when you're talking about diameter.

Calling my high school geometry into service, I figure if an 8" pan would give you a 2" thick cake, then the 9" cake pan would give you a 1 1/2" thick cake.

also you should check the time for adjustment because knowing the nine inch cake is
going to be thinner, you would`nt want to bake the same cake as the eight cake it
mifgt be over cooked.
