We need to come up with a savory one made out of corn bread and filled with fried onions and bacon.

Somebody get Paula Deen on the line!

I'm not paula deen, but, cream cheese, fine shredded pepper jack cheese, with sauteed onions and bacon. Rolled up in cornbread...even I might eat that! Not crazy about cornbread.

I have been thinking about this and if you cut back on the sugar and flavorings you could make a plain sponge then fill it with a whipped pimento cheese, a boursin knockoff, or a whipped salmon with cream cheese thing. It would be nice for the garden party set.
