For whatever reason, ive been in the mood for an orange pound cake the past few weeks.

If anyone has a good recipe to follow, id really appreciate it,

Thanks,

larry

I used to make one out of a Duncan Hines Supreme Cake Mix. It was really good. May have the recipe around here someplace, I'll post it if i can find it.

I used James Beard's recipe, and put in orange zest and gran marnier instead of vanilla.

Lemon or Orange Pound Cake

3/4 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 teaspoons grated Orange or Lemon zest
3 eggs
1 2/3 cups flour

Heat oven to 325
Beat butter and sugar, add eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla.
Beat in flour.

Pour batter in prepared loaf pan. Bake 40 to 50 minutes.

Or you could add 1/2 teaspoon of this. http://www.kingarthurflour.com/shop/items/fiori-di-sicilia-1-oz

There's not leavening agent in this recipe. Is that correct?

Correct. There is no leavening agent in pound cakes...

I see that both the recipes in merstar's post show recipes with leaveners. I have also seen recipes like yours, with no leaveners. I guess it can work both ways.

Origional Pound Cakes did not contain any leaveners. Pound Flour, Pound Butter, Pound Sugar etc..............
Newer versions do contain leaveners, to lighten it up. It is just a matter of choice I guess.

I'll have to try an older style recipe and compare.
