cookies
1 c butter or margarine, softened
1/2 c confectioners sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 c flour {all purpose}
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 c finely chopped walnuts
14oz bag milk chocolate stars {need 48}

coating
1 c confectioners sugar
1 tbls red sugar crystals
1 tbls green sugar crystals
Get the more course sugar crystals.

beat butter, 1/2 c of conf. sugar and the vanilla in large bowl until well blended. Mix in flour, salt and walnuts.
Shape a tablespoon of mix around each chocolate star into a 1" ball. Put on ungreased cookie sheet about 2" apart. Bake at 400 about 12 minutes or until bottoms turn golden and cookie is set. While baking, mix all ingredients for coating in a bowl. Remove cookies from the stove. Roll each cookie in coating mix as you put each cookie on cooling rack. Cool completely. Roll in coating mix again.

for our high altitude members, about 3500 - 6500, bake at 375
