Strawberry supreme cake

This is a recipe my mom really likes.

Strawberry Supreme Cake

1 strawberry cake mix - mix and bake as directed - 2 layers

1 large bag frozen strawberries, drained - save juice
1 16 oz cool whip
1 16 oz sour cream

Mix drained strawberries with cool whip and sour cream. After cake has cooled, slice each layer in two - making 4 layers. Spread liquid over layer and spread strawberry mixture over each layer. Cover and keep refrigerated.

I have a strawberry cake recipe using similar ingredients, that some people like, but I think it's kind of "sickening" sweet. It uses a powdered sugar frosting with some of strawberries in it (the old fashioned sweetened kind). The other strawberries go into the cake mix along with extra eggs and oil.
I think your use of the juice, and the Cool Whip frosting would be so much beter!

The cake is very refreshing, and strawberry is one that mom always asks for. If she doesn't make it, I suppose I will, since I don't have enough to do already.
