This is not a recipe for eating, but it is fun and makes the house smell wonderful. I've seen variations that include white glue.
Cinnamon Ornaments
1 cup applesauce, not chunky
1 cup cinnamon
allspice, ginger, cloves if desired
Stir cinnamon and other spices into applesauce until a dough forms. You may need to add more applesauce or more cinnamon to get a dough you can roll out. Roll out to 1/4 inch thick on a wax paper lined cookie sheet. Don't roll too thin because it increases the chance that the finishes ornaments will break. Cut as desired with cookie cutters. I prefer to use the little cookie cutters, but you can use normal sized ones. Use a toothpick or cocktail straw to make the hole for hanging. Allow to dry on the wax paper, turning as needed to dry thoroughly. This will take several days to a week and during this time they smell great. When dry they may be decorated with glitter, fabric paint, sequins, etc. If the hanging hole is too small to get a ribbon through, I use the red cinnamon flavor dental floss.
