Non-Flat cookies! These won't come out so flat. I call them "folklore" cookies and I came up with the ingredients. You can add oatmeal, chocolate chips, ect. If you want to add oatmeal. Add about 1 cup oatmeal with a tsp of cinnamon. If you want chocolate chips, add anywhere from 1/2 to one cup of semisweet chocolate chips.

"Folklore" cookies.

1/2 cup of butter

1/4 cup of granulated sugar

1/4 cup of brown sugar (firmly packed!)

1 egg yolk

1 teaspoon of vanilla

1/2 teaspoon of soda

1/4 teaspoon of salt

1 1/2 cups of all purpose flour

1 tablespoon of water or milk.

The milk or water and extra flour causes a "less flat" cookie. Some recipes these days don't call for enough flour and extra liquid. After all, you don't want em flat but you don't want em looking like they did when you first put them on the cookie sheet.

Cream butter and sugars until very light and fluffy. Add in egg, soda, and salt. Now add water or milk. Make sure to this point everything is mixed in very well.

Add the flour slowly and continue to mix.

Then add your choice of add in's. Chocolate chips, oatmeal, ect. If you desire.

Chill dough if possible for at least an hour. And make sure cookie sheets aren't terribly hot or even very warm before putting on the next batch.

Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes or until desired. It depends on the cookie size and the texture you want.
