Washing Up
This is a tried and true family recipe from my father's side of the family. It is a very old recipe. (My dad loved 'em)
Haystacks:
Mix the following in a large bowl:
3 cups oatmeal (long-cooking type)
3 T cocoa
1/2 cup shredded coconut
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Pinch salt
Then, bring to boil the following:
1 stick margarine (or sweet butter)
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup milk
After taking off the stove, add 1 t vanilla.
Drop by spoon making haystack shapes.
