My daughter went to the local Safeway today and brought home some Mother's iced oatmeal cookies. Yum!

They're back, made by K, the corn flake people. Now the cookie aisle won't look so depressing.

Mother's cookies started in Oakland California in 1914 and abruptly shut down last year. I don't know if they're sold nationally or if it's just another bay area treat - like Red's Tamales.

Celebration!!!

I don't think that I've ever had Mother's cookies. I had my first Mrs. Field's cookie the other day. To me, they were like eating cookie dough. My hubby loved them though.

Well, I like making my own cookies as well, but in the world of "store bought" cookies, I've always preferred Mother's. Besides, they were the locally made cookie.

It may only be marketed in the West. It was headquartered in Oakland California and sold as far East as Utah. It went out of business last year and the brand was picked up by Kelloggs. Maybe they'll take the brand national now.
