Special sugar for Danish cookies

Does a special type of sugar for Danish cookies really exist, and if so, what is its name and where can it be bought?

Are you thinking of Sanding Sugar? It is a much larger grain than regular table sugar. Often you'll see it on top of sugar or spritz type cookies.
