When I was younger and visited my grandmother, she would always have these candies in her house.

They were typical candy sized.
Wrapped individually in brown and white striped candy wrappers
Outer part of the candy was a hard caramel ( very hard, candy hard)
Inner part was a softer chocolate.
Bought in the New York area ( Flushing Queens, to be more specific)

Just wondering if this rings a bell with anyone.

My grandmother always had expensive taste, so its possible it may have been available in a higher end store, as opposed to typical kids candy.

It sounds kind of like a Werther's candy. (I still love those :yum:)

My mom used to have them around all the time in a pretty jar. The exact flavoring and packaging has changed over the years, but maybe you'll find something similar at the link....?

Werther’s Original – Our Caramels

edit* Now that I look through their site again, I don't see that they've made one with a chocolate filling...

candy-wise, they look similar to the Nips make up.
The ones Im thinking of were more oval shaped
Not sure if nips changed their shape and wrappers over the years
But the one thing I definitely remember is a brown and white striped candy wrapper, not thin stripes, the stripes were about 2 -3 mm in width.

The Nips used to have a white and brown stripe paper.. or we think it is that, bit hard to read. My friend open up her diary from the 70.ties USA and found a candy wrapper in there, I ask her to take pictures.

You're talking about Atkinson peanut butter bars, Larry.
