Hi guys

Just really got into cooking :) :chef: and it's been so stinkin hot inside my apartment lately that I've been trying to make my own ice cream.

Pretty much failed the first few times! Decided I may search the net a bit to find some info on it and found a great article today and am now currently eating delicious coconut sherbert :)

Anyways do any of you have tips on how to make some nice cold treats?

Lemme know them please!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to DC, Brianeno! Do you have an ice cream maker? What went wrong re: your attempts? I have gone through several ice cream makers, finally got one I like and it works wonderfully. Because I raise chickens, I do use the custard method (have to do something with all these eggs). I have made sorbets without an ice cream maker (mostly fruit) and avocado ice cream without an ice cream maker (which reminds me, I should make that again sometime soon).

They just came out tasting, I was kind of "free styling" with it and then after sticking to an actual recipe it's turning out better. Yeah I have an ice cream maker, just got one a few days ago! Avocado ice cream sounds so good! How do you do that?
