I am making Lemon Ice Cream Surprise again for a picnic. The recipe
is at

Lemon Ice Cream Surprise Recipe - Food.com - 92215
[original link is dead, but recipe is all over the internet - yummy.]

The recipe calls for 2 cups of crushed graham cracker. I have
alot of "no salt" saltine crackers and no graham crackers. Can I
substitute "no salt" saltine crackers for graham crackers? I.e.,
will this substitution spoils the taste? Or am I stuck buying more
graham crackers?

I am no cooking expert and appreciate your expertise. What do
you think?

Oh dear. There really is no sub for graham crackers. Do you have some ginger snaps you can crush? I've used those before.

You can also get the premade graham cracker pie crusts.

Hmmm....I would for sure go buy some more graham crackers. Sounds like a lovely recipe and grahams would really add that nice bottom crust that's needed.

Hi, I'm the one who originally posted the recipe for you, so I know this recipe very well - I've made it many times. I definitely would not add saltines - it needs some sort of cookie crust. Do you have any other type of crunchy cookie on hand? A butter cookie would work or ginger snaps, as Dawgluver mentioned, or shortbread cookies, etc.

Thank you for your expertise! the issue is not whether I have blah, blah, blah,
(plus I don't - only have soft chocolate chip cookies), but seeing if I can clean
the cabinet of saltine crackers. Oh well, I better not this time. I'll go out and
get graham crackers. Again, thank for your help.

You could crush up those saltines and use to coat some chicken or to make a meatloaf!!! That is what I do when I have some to use up. ;)
