Yeah, especially in the fridge.

Actually, I'm not clear on whether it was 2 cups of cream or 2 cups of hot chocolate that got thick in the fridge.

I used 2.5 cups of cream, 1.5 cups of milk and 1.5 cup chocolate

OK, so forgive this dumb question, but what's the difference between whipping cream and cream? Isn't whipped cream just cream that's been whipped?

There are different types of cream with different percentages of fat. To make whipped cream, you need whipping cream, aka heavy cream. Light cream wouldn't work.

Thank you, I know, I had mine in Rome, it was amazing. Thank you for recipe, will have to try.

You're talking about Cioccolata Calda. One of my favorite Italian inventions. It's almost like warm chocolate pudding, it's so thick.

For many years, I had a photo on my desk of my daughter on her first trip to Italy. In the photo, she's about 10 years old and sitting in an outdoor cafe in Sorrento with a cup of cioccolata calda in front of her. She also has a big smile on her face that kind of says it all. :)
