Vanilla ice cream & red wine

So who else pours a small amount of red wine over their vanilla ice cream? I do it all the time.

I only like the dry variety of red wine.
I came about this quite by accident several months ago as I opened up an old, cheap bottle of sirah and immediately found out it was no good. So, instead of dumping it out, I poured a bit over some vanilla ice cream I was having for desert just for the heck of it and wow, it turned out to be a great combination.

If you've got a really good Quality Balsamic vinegar, try drizzling a bit over the ice cream....... Kinky !

I bought some scuppernong wine when we went to the mountains. I think that would probably be good over vanilla ice cream.

i never heard of anyone doing that before but it sounds interesting. i'll have to try it some time.

Well, I guess in a good bottle of red you often get flavours of vanilla, so it could be a winner!

Interesting. The closest I ever came to red and white was French Vanilla and Raspberry Sherbet. I wonder how well port will work?
