A nice simple classy dish with ground meat.
works well with beef, pork, roo and venison.

1 Kg lean ground beef
2 cups of mashed potatoes
1 minced leek
1 minced medium carrot
1/4 teaspoon of Chinese 5 spice powder
1/2 Teaspoon of black pepper pinch of salt

Method:
In a mixer with a dough hook pound the meat with all the ingredient's till it becomes a smooth paste - about 1/2 hour.

with watered hands form into burgers or meat balls...
flour chill then steam for 20 Minutes - chill -

then use as required - deep or shallow fry or casserole.

the flavor is so much greater than you could possibly ever imagine.

what a completely new method for me! Sounds great!
Question - explain your steaming? Thanks!

(oh, and I've not yet tried 'roo, as in California, the craziest meats we get are buffalo and ostrich)

BBQ Cups

1 lb. ground beef, brown sugar, bbq sauce, tube of biscuits, cheddar cheese

1. Brown ground beef
2. Drain, add some brown sugar and bbq sauce (I used KC Masterpiece)-heat through
3. Grease cupcake tins
4. Split biscuits (I use Grands) in half, fit bottom of biscuit in each cupcake
5. Fill each with some meat, top with some cheddar cheese
5. Place the top of the biscuit on each cup and seal the edges
6. Cooks according to biscuit directions or til brown

I hope you like it!

YUM! YUM! The Kiddo's will love this!
Thanks Marie, I just put this on the Superbowl Party Menu.:chef:

I have not tried Ostrich myself, but if it like EMU it is like prime beef in flavor.
The steaming firms and sets the meat while bolsering the moisture. If we relied on the hot oil to cook the meat it would dry out and toughen.

but being already cooked we can use very hot oil just to brown it up. sneaky eh.:chef:

We like this one, although it does include tomatoes and is topped with cheese. My 7 y.o. son does not like cheddar, only the plasticy sheets of American. Yuck!

Almost A Meal Casserole

1 lb ground beef
1 c. onion, diced
1 Tbs Worchestershire sauce
1 tsp salt
2 c. potatoes, sliced
1/3 c. flour
10 oz pkg frozen corn
1 bell pepper, cut into strips
1 1/2 c. cheddar cheese, shredded

Brown beef and drain. Add onion, tomatoes, Worchestershire and salt and mix well. Spread in bottom of greased 3 qt casserole dish.
In large bowl, mix together potatoes, flour, corn and bell pepper. Spread on top of beef mixture. Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Top with cheese and bake, uncovered, for an additional 15-20 minutes longer.
Serves 6-8

With all the meat loaf suggestions here, maybe give this a try along with them. I have a recipe for mashed potato meatloaf. Simply put, make the meat loaf (your favorite recipe). After cooking it through, drain any drippings and smother every accessible part of the loaf with mashed potatoes (regular or jazzed up if you wish). Drizzle melted butter over the top and coat with whatever seasoning would compliment your mashed potatoes. When I use regular potatoes, I sprinkle paprika, and/or to spice it up a bit, cayenne. Bake for another 10 to 15 minutes, just until the potatoes are turning golden and crispy.

I then serve topped with brown gravy, but there's obviously a lot of opportunity to play around here as well!

I'll throw one in....

When I used to run three miles a day, I'd try and think up meals I could cook in one hour. That included prep. Here is one I still have, often.
PS Sorry about the mushrooms, but heck, they're in the soup.

In a large skillet, brown 1 lb. ground round, sirloin, or lean chuck w/1
c. chopped onions, salt and pepper. Meat should be lean enough not to
drain. In a microwave safe bowl, add 1 large diced (1/2" ) potato, 2-3
stalks chopped celery, 3 sliced carrots, and 1/2 c. water and microwave
until tender. When done, add this to the meat with 1 can mushroom soup,
1 tsp. minced garlic, 1 chicken and 1 beef bouillon cube, 1 bay leaf,
and about 4 oz. baby peas. (You can add frozen peas and microwave with
the veggies.) You may add a little water and cook over medium heat until
thick. I like to serve with scratch biscuits.

beef rice a roni(cook as directed)
add cooked ground beef, corn,(any veggie you like)
pretty good stir in ideas.

My mom makes the only meatloaf I've ever REALLY liked
1 lb hamburger
1 small can vegetable soup (don't add the water)
some breadcrumbs (I like fresh, DH prefers I use mash potato flakes, instant)
dash of Worcestershire
sometimes I add tin of mixed vegetables if I'm missing a serving for the day
1 egg
press into bake pan, pour can of tomato soup (not diluted, condensed kind) over top and bake. It's soooo moist love it....
