Here is a recipe my mom used to make for us when we were kids and I crave it now & then. This is really tasty. It's similar to a sloppy joe (actually you may call it one).
1 Lb. Hamburger
1 tsp. Garlic Salt
Fresh Ground Pepper to taste
1 small Onion chopped
1/4 cup Ketchup
2 Tblsp. Worcestershire Sauce
1/8 cup Water
Grated Cheddar Cheese
French Rolls
Brown Hamburger. Drain. Add Garlic Salt, Freshly Ground Pepper, Chopped Onion. Cook until Onion is tender. Add Ketchup, Worcestershire Sauce & Water. Stir & Cover. Simmer very low heat for approx. 10-15 minutes. Remove cover, stir & cook until liquid is evaporated almost completely (approx. 5 minutes)
Line a Broiler Pan or Cookie Sheet w/foil & place Sliced French Rolls on pan.
Toast the Sliced French Rolls (I toast them under the oven broiler) careful not to burn.
Spoon the Hamburger mixture over the toasted French Rolls & Top w/Cheese
Bake in 350 oven for approx. 10 minutes or until cheese is hot & melted.
