BAKED PORK CHOPS AND APPLES

2 tablespoon(s) MARGARINE; Or Butter, Divided.
6 (1/2 inch thick) PORK LOIN CHOPS; Or Rib Chops.
2 to 3 (medium) APPLES; Cored And Cut Into 1/2 Inch Rings.
1/4 cup(s) BROWN SUGAR
1/2 teaspoon(s) CINNAMON
SALT; To Taste.
BLACK PEPPER; To Taste.

Heat 1 tablespoon of the butter or margarine in a skillet over medium heat until melted.
Brown pork chops on both sides.
Place pork chops in an ungreased 13 × 9 pan.
Season pork chops with salt and pepper to taste.
Place apple rings on pork chops.
Mix sugar and cinnamon together.
Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon over apples.
Dot pork chops with 1 tablespoon butter or margarine.
Cover and bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes or until pork is done.

We made a variant of this tonight and it was excellent.

We eliminated the brown sugar, lightly coated the chops and the slices of granny smith apple with caramel coffee syrup, and drastically increased the cinnamon (next time, the cinnamon will probably be added after it is baked).
